The town of Golden is located in the sweet spot between the mountains, Denver and Boulder with a population of 20,000. Beer – enough said!

Golden was the original home of Coors Brewing Company, utilizing the crystal clean creek water. Coors continues to brew out of Golden and the facility is the largest single-site brewery in the world. It also offers tours of the brewery, a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike. But a growing number of small, local breweries are also popping up in the area, many with family-friendly patios. If beer’s not your thing, you can find distilleries producing quality spirits in Golden as well.

University town

The Colorado School of Mines, a world-renowned public university specializing in engineering, math and science with a focus on energy and the environment, also calls Golden home. While in town, you can spot a large white M on the hill nearby that is a symbol of the school. First-year students can take part in a tradition of carrying a rock up the hill to add to the M. And once they graduate, they can take one of the rocks with them.

Lots of history and traditions

This is just one example of tradition and community that Golden holds so dear. You can see it in the weekly farmers markets during the summer as neighbors greet each other and return again and again to shop from local farmers and crafters. Another Golden summer tradition is to tube down Clear Creek, which runs through town. The creek is a stunning backdrop for walks or bike rides along its creekside trail.

A cute little downtown

Downtown’s Washington Avenue is lined with boutique stores, restaurants and food halls, and cafes. But it still manages to make you feel like you just strolled into a classic Western movie. Want to get a bit outside of town? The two major landforms in Golden, North and South Table Mountains, provide great hiking and biking. These formations also limit Golden’s growth and expansion. Golden is a wonderful place to start, grow or settle your family with its great schools and even a Railroad Museum. But it’s just as welcoming to retirees and young professionals alike, with a sprawling and state-of-the-art community center and a number of community and holiday events throughout the year.

With easy and equal access to the mountains and the city, Golden is a truly special place to live. Don’t forget to watch my video below if you are thinking of purchasing real estate in Golden and then browse the listings below. Also, check out the real estate listings for Lakewood.
